the last date

1.14.2013

so c and i celebrated our last date dating this past weekend. ah!
because we wanted to keep things classy we decided to a traditional dinner and movie date. and the rule was there could be no wedding talk. first off, i  cannot not remember the last time we got to go out on a fun date.  secondly, if we did go on a nicer date, we would always talk about the wedding. so! we decided that a date night out was much needed, to help me chill out and truly remember why we are even getting married in the first place. and turns out it was exactly what i needed. thank goodness for a great fiance! we headed over to the black sheep, a local pizzeria in the north loop of minneapolis, got a wood fired pizza, a drink, and then went to a theatre to watch django. somehow i missed getting a photo of the two of us, oh well!

it was amazing. i went to the date all stressed out, and left feeling so refreshed. and excited!
the weirdest part of it all, was knowing that this would be the last date in the five year we have been together, of us just dating.
so with that. onward! cannot wait for our first date as husband and wife!

this & that

linking up with miss katie from katie did what and jena today with
this and that thursday!

this: wedding is almost over. i know i always do a post about the wedding but it truly consumes you for a little bit. chad and i didn't even have that long of an engagement but it was the perfect amount of time for the two of us. everyone has different needs when it comes to planning a wedding.

this is my last week of being an anderson. bittersweet. not like my last name is super cool or anything but it is apart of me. but soon the two become one and chad and i will be the kirseboms... eee :)

with that
i have my bacholerette party tomorrow! should be a good time with all of my best girls!

and that
means that because school starts monday, i get married saturday, and then go on a honeymoon the week after i better get ahead on my assignments. hopefully i don't get too overwhelemed and am able to manage getting married during grad school. sometimes i think i am more capable then i really am. so we will see if i make it out alive ;) thank goodness for supportive family because i have been a little on the irritable side lately but my family and chad (especially chad) have been so good to me. i could never do this wedding with out their support!

that also means i have been drinking lots and lots of coffee. even more then normal. i have not been sleeping well, due to being anxious i am sure. but i wake up and feel like i haven't even slept. it isn't good. but thank goodness all of the delicious coffee shops in minneapolis. they keep me sane.

this past month i found out some bad news that there was some employment changes for the family that i nanny for, the end is in sight and it is hard thinking that i am not going to be with my little ladies anymore

that means i am job searching. in the midst of all of my chaos. but it is going well. pray for me that i am able to find a family that is a good fit. i am trying not to rush into things and am hoping something really works out in my favor.

go link up with katie and jena!

wedding invites

12.18.2012

one month until the wedding.. eek! what better way to celebrate then sharing our wedding invites and the process of handcrafting them.

these bad boys may have taken forever to hand screen print but they turned out great, good job chad ;)
the invite had 4 layers of printing (black side pine cones,  front side w/ tree, lettering on front side, and rsvp cards) and each was hand made for our guest. we pride our selves for being DIY type of people and know that it means more to our guest to see the handcrafted work then going to a manufacturer to get them printed.

when building our invites we wanted to incorporate the winterness of the wedding but still make it look classy(hence why we choose the gold color). i am obsessed with the silhouette look- so chad drafted up the shadows of our heads- mine of course being in that top knot that i love :)

cannot believe the wedding is a month away- but boy am i glad that it will be over soon :)

how well do you know the couple

11.26.2012

here is a little Q & A about chad and I and our wedding planning process

where did the couple have their first date?
well we were in high school, so our big date was going to look for an old bridge, we went to a local park, star gazed, ate caramel apples, and talked. it was really cute back in the day ;) then after a while we officially started going on dates so we would make trips downtown and started to go on our adventures

what are the wedding colors?
gold and maroon-ish. the technical name of the color is rosewood, kinda like a Merlot but more pale. sounds weird but it is beautiful. we are having a very winter-y wedding, with lots of gold accents, pine cones, and pine needles. it is going to be sooo beautiful!

where is the couple honeymooning?
we are making the trip down to Puerto Rico to go on a cruise. we are going to be gone for 10 days and I cannot wait for it!

where do the bride & groom work?
well, I am a good ol' nanny for three cuties and a graduate student( is basically is my job ha!), and chad is a graphic designer for Olson, an advertising company.

what is the couple's favorite place to eat?
hmm this is a tough one, we love to go out and usually will venture out for breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) some of our favorite places are moose and sadies and the bad waitress.

what is the couple's favorite board game?
we haven't played a board game in a while, but we used to play sequence allllll the time. I would say that is still our favorite game.

what would the bride say is the most annoying habit about the groom?
when he doesn't wake up to his alarm/when he is late. I live to be ontime, and when chad is late or doesn't wake up to his alarm clock, it puts a dent in my day. however this should get a lot better once we are living together because I get to be his alarm clock ;)

how many children do the bride and groom want to have?
2-3. but kids are not in the 5 year plan (i hope at least). I have lots of school left and we are so young that we hope to be very well established before we start expanding our family :) I love kids but my job as a nanny makes me a part time mom, filling that need for a little one for now!

what are some of your answers to these questions? what do you and you significant other do?

five year date

11.20.2012

so remember how chad got food poisoning the weekend of our anniversary? well, we finally got to reschedule our date (2.5 weeks later!) chad and I take turns planing our anniversary date every other year and it was chad's year to plan. he had a couple great ideas but when he found out the aeros, a team from the american hockey league were coming to minnesota he thought that would be a great fit for our date! we both are hockey lovers (especially chad) and we have frequently gone to wild games, minnesota's NHL team. this year if you haven't heard the NHL is having a lock out, and probably won't play any games, so the aeros game was a perfect solution. we revisited memories, had great laughs, and ended the night with pizza and desert. a great low key date and with all of the wedding stuff it was perfect!

what are fun ways you celebrate your anniversary?

breakfast at tiffany's

11.14.2012

I had breakfast at tiffany's thanks to my lovely bridesmaids who threw me this shower! this shower was for all of my mom's friends and all of my friends that have deaf parents (if you didn't know both of my parents are fully Deaf and are ASL users). so we headed over to my friend Michelle's house to have a lovely party. we played lots of games that included toliet paper, bubble gum, and letters (look at the photos below to try and guess what they are ;) )
they did such a good job at including all of my favorite things such as tiffany's blue, audrey hepburn, little black dresses and lots of yummy treats!
thank you lovely sisters and michelle

questions for the bride to be

10.21.2012

1. What thing does your fiance do that grosses you out the most?
hmm, nothing really grosses me out that I can think of- he is pretty clean and put together. However I bet if you asked him that it would be the opposite, I am a messy eater, I love to smack my gum (annoying I know...) but if I had to pick something it would be the cracking knuckle things he does with his wrist, yuck.

2. Who will do more chores around the house?
I am assuming me. We are both pretty clean people are tend to pick up after ourselves but I will probably be cleaning the bathrooms, however my rule is if I cook I don't do the dishes :)

3. if you could throw away something from his wardrobe what would it be?
now days nothing but the first few years I wanted to throw away all of his super hero t-shirts and this awful red hoodie. but he knows that I hate these items now :) and he no longer wears super hero t-shirts

4. what is your pet name for your fiance?
not one for pet names aside from babe. sometimes chadly. maybe once we are married we will come up with some weird ones!

5. Who will steal more of the covers?
me. no doubt about it. :)

6. where was your first date?
we were juniors in high school when we had our first date. we decided to jump into leaf piles, go star gazing, and swing at a park. we had caramel apples to go with the occasion. it was so fun, I had no idea that he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend later that night.

7. who said "I love you" first?
chad. he said it the day after we had our first kiss- pretty cute. he was so bashful in the beginning stages of our relationship- boy have things changed! (all for the better). He also played all of the big cards first including discussions of our future. He told me that he wanted to marry me one day when we were on the plane home returning from a mission trip to Africa.

8. what disney film would you compare your wedding to?
beauty and the beast.  not the story but our venue reminds me a ton of the old house the beast lived in. cannot wait to experience it :)

9. what do you anticipate to be the best part of the wedding day?
I think the whole day is going to be great. I am excited for our first looks at one another and of course the celebration afterwards (and eating cake ;) )

10.  what are you looking forward to in marriage?
living together and trying to figure out this whole life thing. Chad and I have been together for 5 years and I am so excited for the next 5,10,25, & 50 years together. I am excited to laugh and cry together. The whole thing excites me. This is the part I am most excited about- just being married.

Genesis 2:24 "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will cling to his wife; and they will become one flesh"

Invites are coming...

10.04.2012

1// screen printing supply store 2// chad at store 3// him & her 4// top of invite 5// back of invite 6// printing of back of invite 7// process of printing

if you remember from our save the dates, Chad manually screen prints every last invitation. Couple of reasons for this. The first being- he is a designer and uses screen printing as a method for some of his work. The second is we wanted DIFFERENT invites, not just the same old same old. Meaning we had to get creative. I did love the save the dates but I have to say our invites look soooo much nicer :)
With the manual printing, the invitation process takes a very long time. We are doing three layers (or three different colors), so for 200 invites it takes about two and a half hours per layer. Hard work pays off and I am getting so excited about these- But we will have to wait to share those once they officially go out.

Matthew 25:29 "To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away"
