granola time

2.01.2013

so things that i have been loving lately: granola. it is just so good. but i am all weird about processed things and i try to avoid it at all cost. so i was thinking, and stumbled across some awesome home made granola recipes. it turned out so good. great snacking food. for breakfast, or lunch, or pre-dinner ;) hah! anyways, enjoy these granola, hopefully you like it as much as i do!

basic granola (3-4 servings)

2 cups old fashioned oats
1 1/2 nuts or seeds, i used almonds and sunflower seeds
1/3 cup oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 maple syrup (or honey works!)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup brown sugar (optional)
1/4 cup dried fruit or other topping

combine oats, nuts, and seeds. add oil and syrup. stir until all are wet. add in vanilla and spices. transfer to a large baking sheet that is covered in parchment paper.

bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
add in fruit the last ten minutes of cooking.

*tip* mix the granola every 10-15 minutes to ensure even cooking time.
store in an airtight container up to two weeks

enjoy!

  1. Thanks for sharing this! I've always wanted to make my own granola but I've been lazy about it :( I think you may have inspired me to try it this weekend!
